At Haji Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) in Dinajpur, teachers, students, and staff held a protest and human chain demanding the appointment of a Vice-Chancellor. The demonstration took place on Friday, September 20, at the university’s main gate.
During the human chain, students expressed that previous Vice-Chancellors of HSTU were from outside the university, making it difficult for ordinary students and teachers to approach them. The students emphasized their demand for a student-friendly Vice-Chancellor and remained firm on this stance. They insisted that the new Vice-Chancellor should be selected from within the university, as external appointees in the past had not fulfilled their responsibilities properly.
The teachers stated, “We have observed that over the years, the best among our university’s educators in terms of knowledge and competence should be appointed as the Vice-Chancellor. We need someone we can present our demands to.” They further mentioned that under previous Vice-Chancellor Kamruzzaman, who was appointed from outside, the teachers were unable to voice their concerns effectively.
