Four member companies of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) have received awards in various categories of the Asia Smart App Awards 2024. The companies are – Skylark Soft Limited, Squad Innovators, Swadhin Music Limited and Sea Trends Software and Services Limited.
Organized by Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA), BASIS Director and Regional and Global Judge Tanveer Hossain Khan and BM Sharif of Skylark Soft Limited participated from Bangladesh in the award ceremony held at New World Millennium Hotel, Hong Kong.
Participating in a panel discussion on Wednesday before receiving the award, BASIS Director Tanveer Hossain Khan said, “I am extremely proud to represent BASIS and Bangladesh as a judge at the Asian Smart App Awards 2024. Our member companies being awarded in four categories is a testament to the growing competence and global competitiveness of Bangladesh’s technology industry.”
He added, “Apart from serving as a judge, I participated in a panel titled ‘Bridging the Digital Divide and Accelerating ICT Advancement in Asia’. In this session, I emphasized the importance of policy development in various areas, overcoming regulatory challenges and addressing barriers to build an ecosystem where technologies like AR/VR, artificial intelligence, blockchain and cyber security can thrive. In particular, I think some initiatives should be taken, including starting government awareness programs, offering tax credits for research and development, providing tax incentives for frontier tech startups/SMEs and ensuring public-private-academia collaboration in policy development.”
At the event, Skylark Soft Ltd. was awarded for its innovative product Pro Tracker in the Business and Commercial category. A real-time garment production tracking application, which has revolutionized the manufacturing industry. Squad Innovators received the award for Day Planning, Lifestyle and Entertainment category. It is a smart app designed to improve daily scheduling and productivity, making time management easier for users.
Swadhin Music Limited was recognized for Music in the Lifestyle and Entertainment category. It is a music streaming application that provides a wide and diverse range of music content, for people with diverse music-loving tastes. SeaTrends Software & Services Ltd. bagged the award for The Citizen in the Public Sector & Social Innovation category. It is an app that acts as a user-friendly platform to enhance public service and social innovation.
