Abdur Rashid, father of Mamunur Rahman, student of CSE department of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, was attacked due to being active in anti-discrimination student movement and posting on social media. Rajshahi Medical College Hospital is undergoing treatment in a critical condition. The victim’s family wants a fair investigation and fair trial of the incident.
The incident took place at Ishwardi Union in Lalpur, Natore on the way back home from the local market on September 7. The accused are Rafiqul Islam Rontu son of deceased Karim Molla, Abu Taleb and Tariqul Islam son of Md Tayez Molla, Habib son of Md Shamsul Molla.
Mamunur Rashid said that the accused had already been giving threats because of being active in the movement and posting on Facebook. On the day of the incident, my father was returning home from the market in an auto rickshaw when the terrorists attacked him in broad daylight with indigenous weapons, took him down from the auto and tried to brutally beat and slaughter him and took the forty thousand rupees with him. The assailants left when the locals advanced.
