Online return filing system has been updated for individual taxpayers to file online returns for the tax year 2024-2025. The online return filing system will be open to taxpayers from September 9 (Monday).
National Board of Revenue (NBR) Director (Public Relations) Syed Mu’men confirmed the matter on Sunday (September 8).
According to the NBR, the National Board of Revenue is committed to creating transparent, accountable and taxpayer-friendly tax administration. For this purpose, in the light of Income Tax Act-2023 and Finance Act-2024, the work of upgradation of e-return system has been completed for filing online returns of individual tax payers for the tax year 2024-2025.
The online return filing system will be opened for taxpayers on Monday. Using the e-return system, individual taxpayers can prepare their returns, file returns online or take a printout for filing returns offline.
Apart from this, payment of tax through online banking, credit card/debit card or mobile financial services (Nagad, bKash, Rocket etc.), receipt of instant proof of return filing, receipt of income tax payment certificate and TIN certificate, copy of e-return filed for previous tax year, return Proof of submission is available for print or download facility.
TIN and biometric verified mobile number in taxpayer’s own name will be required to register in this system.
After the introduction of this system by the National Board of Revenue in 2021, 61 thousand 491 taxpayers in the tax year 2021-22, 2 lakh 44 thousand 481 people in the tax year 2022-23 and 5 lakh 26 thousand 487 taxpayers in the tax year 2023-24 filed e-return.
Individual taxpayers will be able to file e-returns for the tax year 2024-25 after completing registration by submitting their information on the National Board of Revenue website from Monday.
