Two licensed firearms owned by the former Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak of Natore-3 constituency have been lost! Former state minister’s lawyer Saddam Hossain has claimed that two firearms were lost from Speaker Shirin Sharmin’s office on the fourth floor of Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan on the day of the fall of the Awami League government. Among the two arms, one is a pistol and the other one is a shotgun.
After submitting an application in this regard to Dhaka Deputy Commissioner’s office, a copy was given to Singra police station.
Palak’s lawyer Saddam Hossain claimed that on August 5, Palak took refuge with his companions in the speaker’s room on the fourth floor of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. Later, considering the situation of that day, he kept a 32-bore pistol and a 12-bore shotgun with license in the Speaker’s room and hid himself. In this regard, a copy of an application in this regard was submitted to the Dhaka Deputy Commissioner’s office on September 3. Later its copy was sent to Singra police station.
Singra police station OC Abul Kalam confirmed the receipt of the copy.
Former state minister Junaid Ahmed Palak tried to go abroad after the fall of the government. But he was detained at the airport. He was then arrested on August 14.
