The government has appointed new vice-chancellors in five government universities including Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) and Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU). The rest of the universities are Rajshahi University, Jahangirnagar University and Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (Shekribi) in Dhaka.
They are appointed as Vice-chancellors in five separate notifications by the education ministry on Thursday (September 5).
Deputy Secretary Mosammat Rokhsana Begum of Department of Scholarship and Engineering (University) Branch under Ministry of Education Secondary and Higher Education has signed the appointment of Vice-Chancellor of KUET and NSTU by order of the Chancellor of the University and the President.
Also, on the same day, the government appointed the posts of Registrar of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). Brigadier General Saiful Haque Ahmed of Bangladesh Army has been appointed to this post.
According to the notification of the Ministry of Education, Brigadier General ABM Faisal Baten, who was appointed as Registrar of BUP on February 15, 2023, was withdrawn and Brigadier General Saiful Haque Ahmed was appointed as Registrar.
According to the instructions, the professor of Mechanical Engineering department of the same university Dr. Muhammad Msud has been appointed as the new Vice chancellor of KUET. He has been appointed for four years as per university rules. At the same time, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ismail, a professor in the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Dhaka University has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of NSTU.
On the other hand, according to the notification signed by Deputy Secretary Shahinur Islam, Professor Dr. Saleh Hasan Naqeeb has been temporarily appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University (RU). He is a professor of physics in the university. Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan has been temporarily appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University (JU). He is a professor in the philosophy department of the university. And the professor of entomology department of Shere Bangla Agricultural University Dr. Md. Abdul Latif has been appointed to the post of Vice-chancellor. He has been appointed for the next four years.
