The court allowed the forensic lab to test the CPU of the computer used for official work in the office of former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal. This order has been given to collect the forensic report of the computer hard disk and SSD used by the former minister’s assistant private secretary as there is information about recruitment trade, bribery and illegal transactions.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad Assamach Jaglul Hossain gave this order on Wednesday (04 September) in view of the application of ACC Commission Deputy Director Jahangir Alam.
It is said in the application that the matter of accepting bribes of crores of taka through syndicates against former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and others in various departments under the Home Ministry is under investigation by a five-member investigation team.
During the investigation, confidential sources revealed that the computer used in the official work of the former Home Minister APS Monir Hossain has more information related to illegal transactions including lobbying in exchange for bribes in the case of recruitment, transfer and promotion.
In view of this, the CPU of the computer used by APS of Home Minister Monir Hossain at the Secretariat was seized from room number-304 on August 22 at 2:35 PM. During the inspection of the spot, the computer’s CPU hard disk and SSD were found to be blank. Despite having hard disk and SSD blanks, there is a high possibility of information related to more illegal transactions including lobbying for bribes in recruitment, transfers and promotions. Which is likely to be recovered if tested in a forensic lab.
For the sake of fair investigation, forensic opinion is especially necessary to retrieve data from the CPU, hard disk and SSD of that computer.
