Professor Dr. Hasan Fuad El Taj of Entomology Department will carry out the administrative and financial responsibilities of Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology (HSTU) until the appointment of a regular Vice-chancellor.
According to the instructions of the Ministry of Education, this decision was taken unanimously in a meeting of the deans on Wednesday (September 4).
Professor Dr. Hasan Fuad El Taj was born on January 9, 1967 in a noble Muslim family in Dinajpur district. In his educational career, he obtained Honors and MSc (Master of Science) degrees from Bangladesh Agricultural University. Later, with a scholarship from Andong National University of Korea (Brain Korea) on Applied Entomology, PhD degree and post doc on apiculture from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece with scholarship from Greek government.
In 1993, he started his career as a Scientific Officer at the Wheat Research Center at Dinajpur and in the same year joined the Department of Entomology at Patuakhali Agricultural College as a lecturer. In 1995, he joined Haji Mohammad Danesh Agricultural College as a lecturer and in 2001, he joined the Department of Entomology in Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology as a lecturer. Later, he worked in the entomology department of HSTU as Assistant Professor in 2004, Associate Professor in 2008, Professor (Grade-3) in 2011, Professor (Grade-2) in 2016 and Professor (Grade-1) since 2020.
He served as a member of the Board of Studies and Teacher Promotion Committee of various domestic and foreign universities. Notable among them is the University of Jordan. Besides, he is a life member of European Association of Acarologists, Bangladesh Entomological Society and Biodiversity Research Group of Bangladesh, member of Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh. He also served two terms as the General Secretary of Haji Mohammad Danesh Agricultural College Teachers Association. 19 students have obtained MS and 3 students achieved PhD degree under him. He has 43 publications in international journals and has traveled to 12 countries around the world so far.
