Filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki expressed his optimism about the discussed ‘Alo Ashbei’ group. He even identified the members of this group with a special term. He thinks, not the artistes of FDC, rather the artistes from other fields are working as artistes in real sense.
Farooki wrote on Facebook on Wednesday (September 4) in the morning, ‘It must be painful that in our country there are people walking around with the tag of artists, who are direct instigators of genocide or some are silent supporters of genocide. They are low in nature not only as artistes but also as people. If they were born in seventy-one, they would perform the duties of Rajakar. As a result, you can call them the Razakars of this era. They will surely be tried for the crime of supporting and inciting genocide.’
Earlier, a secret WhatsApp group conversation of Awami supporting artists spread on social media from Tuesday morning. Most of its members turned up on August 1 to witness the destruction of BTV. The screenshot of the group shows that they used to work for the newly deposed Awami League government. They were working to identify artistes who took a stand against the Awami League government. In his Facebook post, filmmaker Farooqui called them ‘Rajakar’.
However, this group has made Mostofa Sarwar Farooki optimistic. In that post, he also wrote, ‘Let me tell you the hopeful side, most of this group is not actually involved in any art practice in that sense. None of our mainstream actors or filmmakers are with them.’ Considering the mainstream of those working in television, OTT and films outside of FDC, Farooki says mainstream artists and producers are the present and future of this arena.
Actress Jyotika Jyoti was seen writing in the conversation of ‘Alo Ashbei’ group, regarding, ‘Fire at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University. Fire fighters and media personnels can’t enter for the presence of the talented activists of Tokai Jamaat Shibir. Aruna Biswas wrote in the reply, ‘You have to pour some hot water.’ Sweety wrote, ‘There is no going back. When and where we will assemble, we will decide together.’
The much-criticized ‘Alo Asbei’ WhatsApp group included entertainment actor and newly elected Member of Parliament Ferdous Ahmed, actor Riaz, Azizul Hakim, Raonak Hasan, Mamunur Rashid, Saju Khadem, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Simon Sadiq, Jewel Mahmud, Zayed Khan, Jhuna Chowdhury, Liaquat Ali Lucky, Md. Shahadat Hossain, Zayed Khan. Apart from this, the newly appointed foreign minister of the government, Hasan Mahmud, Minister of State for Information, MA Arafat, DB Haroon, and at least two and a half hundred people. This group was engaged in the task of identifying the opposition people in the group.
Mostafa Sarwar Farooki’s latest movie ‘Something Like An Autobiography’ was released last year. He also acted in it for the first time. His film Shanibar Bikel, based on the 2016 Holi Artisan restaurant attack, did not get censor clearance in the country. After a long hiatus, the film was released on a foreign OTT called Sony Live, which the people of this country did not have the opportunity to watch. The series ‘420’ made by this producer exposed the political situation of the country. Because of that, the series was stopped midway.
