Activation Webinar on NASA Space Apps Challenge Bangladesh has been successfully organized at University of Information Technology and Science (UITS). Hundreds of eager students attended the event held on Monday from 8pm to 9pm to learn more about and participate in this global hackathon.
This knowledge sharing session was held in collaboration with Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Department of Information Technology (IT) of the university.
The webinar was organized in collaboration with Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS); Cloud Camp Bangladesh and the Students’ Forum of BASIS assisted to hold the webinar. In this local event, the BASIS Director Biplab Ghosh Rahul, NASA Space Apps Challenge Bangladesh convener Abhijit Bhowmik, Mohammad Mahdi Uz Zaman (Advisor, NASA Space Apps Challenge Bangladesh) gave important directions.
The event was moderated by UITS IQAC director and Assistant Professor Engineer Md. Shafayet Hossain. Al Imtiaz, Head of CSE Department of the university and Dean of Science and Engineering faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Islam and Tawfiq Elahi, Assistant Manager, Events and Communication, BASIS, were connected in the webinar.
It is worth noting that, the 48-hour long NASA Space Apps Challenge hackathon has been being organized in 350 cities worldwide; It aims to encourage innovation and break down barriers to access to space exploration and science opportunities. The National Hack-A-Thon is being held simultaneously globally on October 4-5, 2024. The theme for the 2024 NASA International Space Apps Challenge is “The Sun Touches Everything!” Space Apps strives to remove barriers to entry to space and science opportunities.
