The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has a total of 14 investment projects in the financial year 2024-25 out of which 13 ongoing projects under the annual development program and one project has been newly approved from the disapproved list. The total allocation for ongoing projects is Tk. 256 crores and 44 lakhs. Against this, 20 crore 19 lakh 59 thousand taka has been released. Expenditure rate is 0.05 percent compared to total allocation. Progress till June 2024 is 78.26 percent.
This information was presented at the review meeting on the implementation progress of the annual development program for the fiscal year 2024-25 until June 2024 in the meeting room of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Wednesday.
In the meeting, Md. Nahid Islam said, many projects have not been completed within the stipulated time, which may have various reasons, but it does not send a good message.
While speaking as the chief guest, the adviser said that the government’s development project is an arena of corruption and irregularities in the public mind. People hold this view because most allegations of corruption and irregularities come from development projects.
He said that the Information Secretary has already been asked to investigate the previous and ongoing projects of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting about which complaints have been received.
Adviser Nahid Islam said that all of you will be aware of this so that there is transparency in the work of the project and there are no complaints. At various times one hears of some unnecessary projects, which are mainly taken up for corruption. No such project should be taken up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Information Secretary Md. Humayun Kabir Khondokar and the head of the department under its jurisdiction were present on the occasion.
