It has been decided to change the name of the nationwide Hi-Tech Park, Software Technology Park and IT Training and Incubation Centers after the names of the concerned districts. At the same time, it was decided in the meeting to appoint a new PMC in a short period of time through the open tender process by exempting the property management company (PMC) of Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park located in Jashore district.
These decisions were taken at the 32nd meeting of the Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority at the ICT Tower in Dhaka’s Agargaon on Wednesday. Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Advisor and President of the Executive Committee of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Md. Nahid Islam chaired the meeting while the ICT Division Secretary Md. Shamsul Alam, Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director GSM Zafarullah and senior officials were present.
In the meeting, Adviser Nahid Islam said, there are many complaints regarding allotment and cancellation of Hi-Tech Park land; so, it is necessary to review whether there is any irregularity or corruption in this matter. Because, we did not get the expected results according to the purpose with which the nationwide hi-tech parks were made. The matter will be further reviewed to identify the reasons. Be that political or corruption or any deficiency in our capacity; Identifying these issues will make it easier to work ahead. He commented that there is a need for more study on how foreign countries are working and how we can advance the work within our capacity. Besides, the advisor also commented that practical work should be done without having too high expectations.
In the meeting, when it was proposed to name the dormitories of Hi-Tech Park after the names of Shahid Mugdho, Abu Saeed and some others, who were martyred in the anti-discrimination student movement. The adviser did not agree and said that there is no need to rush like the Awami League government. The movement will preserve the memory of the martyrs in such a way that they last forever.
There was a discussion on paying rent arrears to the existing establishments at Janata Tower in Karwan Bazar and renovating the tower by keeping them. The meeting also discussed how to help those who will invest in hi-tech parks to get loans.
