Adviser on Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology and Information and Broadcasting Ministry of the Interim Government Md. Nahid Islam alleged that India has shown inhumanity and non-cooperation with Bangladesh by opening the dam without any advance cautionary and preparation.
The Information Advisor opined so in a press briefing in front of the State Guest House Jamuna after the meeting of the Advisory Council of the Interim Government on Thursday. Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Water Affairs Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan also spoke on various issues.
He said that the upstream water has reached Bangladesh and has created a flood situation. The dam was opened without any advance caution and preparation. Through this, India has shown inhumanity and non-cooperation with Bangladesh.
Nahid Islam said, we hope that India will withdraw from such policies against the people of Bangladesh as soon as possible. Students and people of Bangladesh are angry about this policy of India.
He said that the people of Bangladesh and India should find a fair solution on how to protect the people from such natural disasters together. The people of Bangladesh have been agitating and speaking for a fair share of water for a long time.
The information advisor expressed hope that there should be no tension in Bangladesh-India relations and the state relations of the two countries should be replaced on the basis of fairness.
Calling on all the social and political forces and people of the country to work together to deal with the flood situation of the country, Nahid Islam said that we have to work together to deal with the flood situation of the country, just like the nation was united in the uprising.
He urged all public and private institutions to come forward to deal with the disaster. The advisor requested the businessmen to come forward from a humanitarian point of view.
Nahid Islam said that the government is trying to rescue the flood-affected people more efficiently with the help of the armed forces.
