A 10-day remand has been granted to Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, in the case of killing a rickshaw driver named Kamal Mia in Paltan of the capital.
On Thursday (August 15) around 4 pm, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam gave this order after the court hearing.
Before this, the investigation officer of the case was Sub-Inspector of Paltan Model Police Station Md. Yusuf applied for a 10-day remand for each. The state also wanted a 10-day remand. On behalf of the accused, their lawyers applied for cancellation of remand and bail. After hearing both sides, the court ordered a 10-day remand for each.
Sub-inspector Alamgir Hossain of General Registration Branch of Paltan Model Police Station confirmed the matter.
Earlier, around 3:50 p.m., former Deputy Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Shamsul Haque Tuku and general secretary of Dhaka University branch of Chhatra League Tanveer Hasan Saikat were brought to the court. They were kept in the CMM court jail. They were taken to court during the hearing.
They were also remanded for 10 days in the hearing.
