Computer operators and accountants joined the protest on the ninth floor of the Bangladesh Computer Council building on Thursday under the banner of ‘Anti-discrimination Employee Welfare Council’. They claimed that they were supposed to be promoted after 5 years but they did not get promoted even after 13 years.
This time they demanded compensation along with promotion and compulsory retirement as the quickest punishment for those who were involved in non-promotion, and carry out investigation and punish the corrupt. At the same time, they demanded the removal of the person who made the 1st manpower structure consists of 76 people.
With the demand, they chanted slogan inside the office saying ‘administration is fake here’. At the same time, they announced a strike.
But overriding these demands, the situation turned heated when they demanded to bring back an employee transferred to Natore and marched with an ultimatum to bring him to the headquarters within an hour. The procession went to the room of Assistant Director (Administration), Additional Public Relations Officer Golam Kibria, where complaints of commotion and extreme misbehavior were found.
In such a situation, Golam Kibria applied for exemption from the additional responsibility of the administration.
It has been found that this movement is being led by Mosharrof Hossain Parvez, Accountant of Hi-tech Park Authority and Sharmili Khatun, Computer Numerologist and Office Assistant. Shafiqul Islam Khan, husband of movement leader Sharmili Khatun, the current administrative officer of the ICT department, was the personal officer of former minister Mustafa Jabbar. Sharmili Khatun was very irregular in the office and claimed herself to be the minister’s daughter-in-law. Most of the officers are not satisfied with her as she never followed the discipline of the office.
Also, Nasreen Khatun, wife of Mosharraf Hossain Parvez, was working as a storekeeper of Hi-tech Park Authority in Muktijodha quota. She posted various posts on social media against the recent reform movement run by the students.
On the other hand, the one who has been threatened to be transferred and brought to the head office within an hour was a cadre of Jashore Chhatra League. He was appointed by influence of the APS of former ICT and Telecom State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
