The ICT Directorate Officers Association has demanded transparency and accountability reforms in the activities of this department, claiming that there has been looting in the ICT sector through bogus vendors in the last 15 years. The organization said such activities were carried out by the previous government through contractual-corrupt party people, ignoring young and skilled engineers with ICT knowledge.
The organization’s president (ad hoc) expressed anger that in the past, under the umbrella of dictatorships and marauding groups, the technical services of the public in this country were made miserable. The ICT Directorate Officers Association believes that the dreamy youth of this country will be able to rebuild the state and build a corruption-free society and an ICT self-reliant Bangladesh along with the common people.
On the other hand, the General Secretary said, ICT Directorate Officers Association planned to expand business, increase remittances and facilitate e-services through the use of information and communication technology. The leadership of Muhammad Yunus will give full support to the youthful freedom reform movement leader Md. Nahid Islam as an advisor to the newly formed interim government.
In this regard, a press release sent to the media on Friday said that the ICT sector does not mean only IT institutions and freelance professionals; ICT is integrally involved in every sector of Bangladesh economy. Now is the time to take the ICT sector forward by focusing on skill development, facilitating the startup ecosystem, local market development and establishing good governance in potential areas at home and abroad. The Directorate of ICT Officers Association will work relentlessly alongside the Interim Government in implementing information and communication technology in a well-planned manner to ensure all government services at home.
Paying deep respect to the sacrifices of all brave martyrs and wounded soldiers in the nation-wide anti-discrimination student movement, the circular said – people from children to various professions have been martyred in the bloody struggle against dictatorship. ICT Directorate Officers Association will work to implement the demands of the students and people to realize the dream of creating a non-discrimination, corruption-free and accountable new Bangladesh.
The ICT Directorate Officers Association has more than 500 members working in 555 offices of the ICT Directorate across the country.
