Bangladeshi cache servers of all gigtech companies including Facebook, WhatsApp and TikTok have been opened after being shut down for almost two weeks. Eventually, the Bangladeshi users can now use these social media without help of any kind of Virtual Private Network-VPN.
ISPAB President Imdadul Haque said that all social media networks including Facebook TikTok and YouTube have been activated on the government’s orders, saying that it will take 24-48 hours to get the fast service as usual after the cache server is updated.
To suppress the quota reform movement, the mobile internet was shut down in the morning of July 18, and the broadband internet service was also shut down in the evening. In this, this important service sector was closed across the country. After 5 days, the broadband service was launched. And after 10 days the mobile internet service was launched. But social media Facebook, TikTok and video platform YouTube were closed. The government seeks answers from these media mainly because the ‘rumors’ are spread through these online media.
