The election of the fifth bi-annual Executive Committee of the national organization of e-commerce traders E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) for 2024-26 has been postponed. The election was scheduled to be held at Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Convention Hall (5th floor) in Dhaka’s Shahbagh on July 27.
Due to the ongoing curfew in the country amid the quota reform movement, the Election Commission will hold a meeting with the candidates next Saturday to decide the new date of the election.
This decision was taken in the emergency meeting of the Election Board held on Wednesday in the night chaired by Md. Hafizur Rahman, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce. The other two members of this board are FBCCI Director Syed Md Bakhtiar and BNNRC CEO AHM Bazlur Rahman.
Bazlur Rahman told DigiBangla that in view of the emergency, they will hold a meeting with the candidates who will not take the polls at the e-CAB office next Saturday to fix a new date.
In this election, 24 candidates are contesting for 11 director posts and 13 thousand 64 voters will cast votes. The current number of member organizations of e-CAB is 13 thousand 64.
