BTRC is going to launch experimental internet service across the country from tonight. At the same time, it will be possible to provide Internet connection to freelancers with the help of the private sector- informed the State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak. At the same time, after observing ongoing situation on Friday and Saturday and holding a meeting with AMTOB, the state minister gave a hint of starting 4G mobile network and internet connection from Sunday.
So, Zunaid Ahmed Palak advised everyone to be tolerant in using the internet. Said that he has been a victim of constant cyber-attacks on his mobile phone. That’s why everyone should be careful while using the internet. At the same time, BGD e-Gov Cirt has been put on alert for this.
He conveyed his thought at a press conference held in the Conference Room of BTRC building at Agargaon of the capital on Wednesday in the afternoon.
At the same time, Palak suggested to share contents after fact checking instead of being emotional about expressing reactions on social media; If not, the individual, the family and the country will all suffer.
In the press conference, the state minister said that one and a half terabytes of bandwidth have been used by commercial, economic, diplomatic and media services since Tuesday night till noon today.
The Minister of State for Posts and Telecommunications said that social media like Facebook and TikTok will be discussed in a letter within the next three days. He said, if they participate in this hearing and give satisfactory answers, the government will not be strict about them.
The state minister said that Facebook does not follow its own privacy and policy. They do not obey the laws of our country.
When asked about when the social media including Facebook will be opened, Minister Palak said, we are noticing that at the moment some social media, especially Facebook, YouTube, as they do not obey the laws of our Bangladesh, they do not respect our religious values, economic security, law and order. They show no respect. And they are breaking their own policy guidelines, privacy settings themselves. So how do we take this risk right now? If they come and promise that they will behave responsibly in these matters then we will consider it.
Calling on the entrepreneurs of the f-commerce sector to be patient, Palak said that now the government has made .bd, .gov domains even cheaper and easier. He urged the entrepreneurs of f-commerce sector to create their own platform. At the same time, the ICT State Minister has called upon the domestic OTT platforms to create such platforms. He said, the entrepreneurs of the e-commerce sector should create their own platform. For this we have simplified native domains.
BTRC Chairman Engineer Mohiuddin Ahmed, Director General Brigadier Mustafizur Rahman, IIGB President Aminul Hakim and others were present in the press conference.
