Law Minister Anisul Haque said, if the environment for education is created, all educational institutions across the country will be opened ‘as soon as possible’. The Law Minister informed the matter while briefing at his office in Gulshan, Dhaka on Tuesday (July 23). Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain, Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel and State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Arafat were present in the briefing.
Apart from the quota reform, the law minister informed the journalists about the five steps taken by the government including following the order of the Supreme Court regarding other demands raised by the agitators, setting up a judicial inquiry committee, providing legal protection to the agitating ordinary students.
The government imposed a curfew from last Friday (July 19) night when violence broke out over the quota reform movement. Last Sunday, Monday and Tuesday were declared public holidays across the country.
The curfew relaxation period is gradually increasing as the situation improves. Curfew was relaxed on Tuesday (July 23) from 1pm to 5pm.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that the curfew issued for the sake of law and order will remain in force tomorrow, on Wednesday and Thursday (July 24 and 25). However, the curfew will be relaxed on these two days from 10 am to 5 pm. The office will be open from 11 am to 3 pm.
