Mobile service provider Banglalink has signed an agreement with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) to implement smart prepaid metering system. Banglalink’s Enterprise Business Director, Rubaiyat A Tanzim and BPDB’s General Manager, Commercial Operations, Md. Mofizul Islam recently signed this agreement on behalf of their respective organizations at a function organized at the Dhaka Head Office of BPDB, Bidyut Bhaban.
In a press release on Monday, General Manager of BPDB, Commercial Operations, Md. Mofizul Islam said, “We are delighted to announce our joint venture with Banglalink. BPDB is currently working on implementation of smart prepaid metering system in its four distribution regions (Chittagong, Cumilla, Sylhet, Mymensingh). Ensuring robust and secure communications infrastructure is critical to the success of this initiative. That is why it is important to work closely with reliable communication service providers to ensure encrypted and seamless connectivity, which will help ensure the smooth operation and success of our smart prepaid metering system. We are working tirelessly to achieve its goal of 100% prepaid metering by 2026 in line with the government’s development targets. The aim of this agreement is to further enhance our smart metering system using Banglalink’s 4G internet and innovative digital services. We are hopeful that this will significantly improve our operational efficiency.”

BPDB Director Mrigank Mohan Pal, BPDB Supervising Engineer Md Sohail Hossain Siraji, Banglalink Head of Strategic Business, Enterprise Business, SM Shamsur Rahman, Banglalink Corporate Account Manager, Enterprise Business Sowad Azad and Shah Mohammad Badiur Rahman along with senior officials of the two organizations were also present at the signing ceremony.
