An international webinar was held on Monday at University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) campus on research and publication techniques in science and engineering. The webinar was conducted in the morning at the Conference Center of UITS, the first private university of technology in Bangladesh. The Conference Chair of ICIT 2024, I.R. Dr. Malathi Batumalay Ai was connected in the webinar virtually. The Conference Chair is a professor of INTI, International University of Malaysia, which is ranked 516th in the world and first in Asia.
In this two-hour long workshop, she explained in detail about research areas and topics in science and engineering, research methods, journal writing process, publication guidelines and PR reviews. She also shed light on the sustainable use of various tools and techniques used in research. At the same time, she discussed the role and strategy of the university in empowering researchers.
Hundreds of faculties from English, Social Work, Law, Business Studies, CSE, IT, EEE, ECE, Pharmacy and Civil Engineering faculties of UITS University participated in this interactive session. In the question-and-answer session, they got answers to various questions about research, publishing and PR from the keynote presenter of the webinar.
UITS IQAC Director Engineer Md. Safayet Hossain conducted the event while the University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Abu Hasan Bhuiyan was present as the chief guest. He said, the best way to communicate consciously is clarity. Therefore, the text and writing should be given the most importance so that it is easy to understand and interesting for the reader. Without patience, persistence and determination, it will not be possible to stick to the path of publication. So, you can’t back down in any obstacle. That is why we must continue to learn in a refined way. New technologies must be embraced. Because this world library is very dynamic. So, we need to be open-minded in learning and sharing with each other citation styles, referencing tools, and online platforms that can improve our research.
Among others, UITS treasurer Professor Dr. Siraj Uddin Ahmed, Dean of Faculty, Heads of Departments were present.
It was informed on the occasion that 12 students of UITS have already passed the written examination at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in China. Apart from Malaysia’s INTI University, UITS has research agreements with many global universities including Sukuna Multiple Campus of Nepal, University of Korea, Millersville University of the United States. The university has also organized 3 international conferences in joint production.
