Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman said that sacrificial animal markets in the capital will be brought under a special security zone around the holy Eid-ul-Adha. He said that CC cameras will be installed in all markets. Intelligence personnel will be in the field in plain dresses. Counterfeit money detection machines will be installed. There will also be drone patrolling.
In a press conference at the media center of DMP on Friday regarding the security of Qurbani animal market, the DMP Commissioner said that several steps have been taken to ensure the safety of the animal market in Qurbani. Strict action will be taken if stall is set up without permission. There will be special police patrols at the capital’s entrances to prevent extortion and looting. He also said that action will be taken against the lessees if they set up stalls on the road outside the designated areas or unload animals from trucks.
This time, two city corporations together will set up 19 animal markets in the capital. In the meantime, the markets have also been prepared. Sacrificial animals will start arriving from all over the country within a few days.
