A five-student ‘Technical Skills’ team from the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management of Daffodil International University bagged the prestigious second prize in the 3rd IAUP International Business Model Student Competition 2024 organized by the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP). On May 30, 2024, the DIU team “Technical Efficiency” won the award after competing against 40 finalist projects from 12 universities in 10 countries. The team was awarded USD 1500 in prize money at a virtual awards ceremony. The members of the award-winning team are Arabi Chowdhury, Marwa Abdus Salam, Rahat Islam, Md. Ishraq Bhaiyya and Shafiqul Islam Khan.
Each team in the competition presented their innovative ideas and demonstrated their commitment to sustainable solutions to global problems. The ‘Technical Efficiency’ team presented their project, “Effective Innovation”, which links Sustainable Development Goals- 9, 11, 12, and 13, aiming to be smarter, more efficient using data analytics, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things based agricultural systems Building. Their project emphasizes practices that promote soil nature, water conservation, biodiversity and carbon sequestration.
