Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) participated in the first Construction Carnival held at the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) campus along with the students of Engineering and Technology Universities of the country.
Workshop, CAD Expert Contest, Render Rampage, MakeMind, Idea Contest, Poster Presentation, Smart Management Maestro, Archi Capture were held in the two-day construction carnival. Students studying civil engineering, building engineering and construction management, urban and regional planning and architecture of the universities participated in it.
RUET Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam handed over the prizes among the winners. The Carnival was an initiative of the Building Engineering and Construction Management (BECM) department of RUET.
DUET contestants won a total of five awards in four different categories in the carnival. Among them, Zakir Hossain, a fourth-year student of the architecture department of DUET, became the Cad Expert A champion.
At the same time, the first runner-up position in the poster presentation was occupied by DUET’s Space Maker team and the second runner-up position was occupied by Abdullah Al Farooq, a student of DUET’s Architecture Department. Space Maker team members were a fourth-year student Zakir Hossain and a second-year student Habib Adnan of DUET.
The second runner-up in Render Rampage was achieved by the Viz Master team. Mominul Islam was the partner of champion Zakir Hossain in this team. Besides, a first year- student Ariful Haque Nahid became the first runner-up. Also, a fourth-year student Abdullah Al Farooq came out as the second runner up in CAD Expert.
About three hundred researchers and students from various universities including RUET, BUET, KUET, DUET, IUT, PSTU, University of Asia Pacific and Ahsanullah Science and Technology University participated in the carnival with the participation of teachers, researchers and students.
The inaugural ceremony of the carnival took place on Thursday, May 30th in the morning. Head of the Department of BECM professor Dr. Rabiul Awal presided over the ceremony. RUET VC Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam was present at the opening ceremony. Also, Director General of Bangladesh Water Development Board Muhammad Amirul Haque Bhuiya, Director General of House and Building Research Institute Ashraful Alam, Director of Faridpur River Research Institute Pintu Kanungo, Dean of RUET Public Engineering Faculty Dr. Kamruzzaman Ripon, Deans of various faculties, all directors, heads of departments and sections were present in the event.
