A roundtable discussion titled “Software Industry-Academia Collaboration for Professional Development of CSE/IT Students” was held at BUET ECE Bhaban on Saturday with an aim to establish a strong link between industry and academia for professional development of students. About 20 people from technology industry sector and 7 educationists with education programs were present in the discussion. The discussion elaborated on the importance of industry-academia collaboration, current status review, areas of collaboration, professional development, and teaching strategies.
Professor Dr. Abu Saeed Md. Latiful Haque of BUET CSE Department was present as the main speaker in this discussion meeting held jointly by Bangladesh Innovation Forum and e-SRD Lab of BUET CSE Department.

On the other hand, the professor of BUET CSE department. A.B. M. Alim Al Islam, Associate Professor of East West University Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Chairperson Dr. Mahin Islam, professor of CSE department of Dhaka University Dr. Mosaddek Hussain Tushar, Head of the University of Asia Pacific CSE Department and Associate Professor Shah Murtaza Rashid Al Masood Ph.D. And Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) CSE Department Chairman Colonel SM Saiful Islam, BUET Professor and Director of Rise Professor Dr. Muhammad Anisuzzaman Talukdar addressed the meeting.
The meeting was conducted by the President of Bangladesh Innovation Forum and CEO of e-Soft Ariful Hasan Apu.
The meeting discussed the current status of industry-academia collaboration, review of the current status and nature of collaboration between industry and academia, and practical training and internship opportunities for students.
Speakers expressed their views on areas of cooperation like, Collaborative research projects, curriculum development as per industry needs, industry exposure programs for students, practical training and workshops to enhance students’ professional skills, organizing lecture series and workshops by industry experts, project-based learning, use of contemporary technology and tools, updating curriculum as per industry requirements etc.
Bangladesh Innovation Forum and e-SRD Lab of BUET CSE Department informed that, in the context of today’s discussion, necessary measures will be taken to start the activities of the issues that have come up.
