Rangamati post office will be updated as a smart service point by next May on the basis of public private partnership. Through this conversion, 325 government digital services will be provided in addition to the traditional services available at the post. Besides, there will be banking facilities and e-commerce will also be expanded. Also, ‘Sheikh Kamal IT Training Center’ will be constructed in a very short period of time at a cost of one hundred crore taka on three acres of land in the district. There will be smart employment of 1000 youth. In this way Rangamati will become a smart district within the next four years.
State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak expressed this plan to the journalists while visiting Rangamati Post Office on Friday, April 5, in the afternoon after visiting Rangamati Telephone Building, Betbunia Geo-satellite Center. At this time, Dipankar Talukder, President of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Environment, Forest, Climate Change Affairs, Deputy Commissioner Md. Mosharraf Hossain Khan, Superintendent of Police Mir Abu Tauhid were present.
The state minister said that Rangamati, Khagrachari, Bandarban of 15 years ago and Rangamati, Khagrachari, Bandarban of 2024 are like night-day difference, dark-light difference. He also said that although BTCL’s life service has the opportunity to serve 3 thousand people in Rangamati, only 1 thousand are getting there. If you can ensure 3000 services, the company will see profit.
The state minister also said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken this initiative to provide smart employment to the youth of Rangamati, which construction work will start in a few days along the Asambasti-Kaptai road adjacent to Rangamati city. Every year through Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center, 1000 boys and girls will be trained and get jobs in Rangamati and indirectly thousands of boys and girls will get an opportunity to become entrepreneurs by becoming skilled in IT.
