Bhasanchar, a remote coastal area of Noakhali’s Hatia upazila, has come under Smart Postal Services. State Minister for Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the Bhasanchar Sub Post Office on Sunday and thus, the 13,000 acres of land was covered by postal services.
During his visit to Bhasanchar on March 1, the state minister directed the officials of the government and private organizations working there to establish a sub post office considering the need of smart mail and courier services of the local people. In continuation of this, on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s birthday, the journey of smart postal service officially started in Bhasanchar from today.
On this occasion, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, while speaking as the chief guest at the function organized at Smart Platform, under the direction of Mr. Sajib Wazed Joy, Advisor to the Prime Minister on ICT, modern telecommunication and internet services will be provided through Teletalk and other three mobile operators and Bangabandhu Satellite-1 to ensure smart citizen living of the people of Bhasanchar. I believe we have been able to eliminate digital disparity for Char-dwellers by introducing smart postal services besides making sure.
He said that Mother of Humanity Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has set a unique example of humanity in the world by sheltering more than one million Rohingya citizens of Myanmar. Bhasanchar has transformed into a very important township as a refugee camp for these endangered citizens of Myanmar. It was very important to establish a sub post office in this town.
He said, using the vast network of post offices, huge infrastructure and manpower, our aim is to deliver services to the doorsteps of every people in the country, including remote areas. Bangabandhu sowed the seeds of digital Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina transformed the seeds planted by Bangabandhu into saplings from 1996 to 2001. In the last 15 and a half years since 2009, it has taken shape of a huge tree.
Director General Tarun Kanti Sikder, Director General of Postal Department, presided over the event, while Post Master General Saleh Ahmed of East Chattogram, Additional Commissioner of Refugee, Relief and Repatriation Commission Mahfuzar Rahman and Executive Officer of Sammukh Ghati Bhasanchar Lt. Commander Mehdi Hasana spoke at the event.
