Anisul Haque, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has said that the government has taken the initiative to formulate a law on Artificial Intelligence (AI) considering the advancement of global technology.
The law minister informed the matter in a meeting with a delegation of ‘Center for NRB’ at the Secretariat on Tuesday, February 13.
In response to the demands of Center for NRB Chairperson MS Sekil Chowdhury, the head of the delegation, the law minister said that he will take steps to ensure that non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) can also take part in the meeting held with the stakeholders in the legislative process and express their views.
The minister said preliminary discussions are going on about formulating the law (AI Act). However, the stakeholders must be consulted before enacting this law.
Stating that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government always wants to enact people-friendly laws; he added that that is why his government has kept an opportunity to discuss with stakeholders in the process of enacting laws.
The law minister said that due to the need of the time, the government has enacted a strict information technology law along with the establishment of Digital Bangladesh. Established virtual courts. The Evidence Act of the British period has been modernized. Now people of all classes and professions, domestic and foreign, are getting the benefits of these activities of the government.
