State Minister’s intervention expected to resolve the internet problem in Chunarughat of Habiganj
State Minister for Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak handed out laptops to 265 trainees of Habiganj district on Saturday with a number of influencers. His wife Arifa Jasmine Kanika was also present at the time. Under the ‘Her Power Project’, the laptop distribution event at the local DakkhinCharan Pilot High School ground turned into an open public meeting. The event got a colourful vibe with the presence of 6 influencer guests.
Iqbal Bahar, a maker of entrepreneur, motivational speaker Solaiman Sukhan, News presenter Farabi Hafeez, YouTuber Tauhid Afridi, Vloger and actor Salman Muktadir and singer-turned-philanthropist Tasereef Khan also spoke at the event.
State Minister of PSTD & ICTD, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, while speaking as the chief guest said that, the implementation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s smart Bangladesh vision of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ will be possible before 2041 by connecting the power of youth with the power of technology.
He said, ‘The youth of Bangladesh will lead the digital world. They should be developed with opportunities. Emphasis should be placed on computers and information technology. If we make ourselves smart, the country will also become a smart country’.

State Minister Palak said that the government is also working to ensure that no one gets killed or injured due to social media. Everyone including Facebook is being pressured by the government to set up offices and data centers in Bangladesh. Also, the government is working on 4 steps to ensure cyber security. These are increasing awareness, increasing the ability to use technology and law enforcement and international information exchange. Creating useful content for the country in social media including Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, taking into account the social and religious conditions.
Palak also said that 100 Sheikh Russell ICT training centers will be established in Habiganj within the next one year. Moreover, through the establishment of Smart Employment Digital Center, 1000 young people will get freelancing training opportunities every year. Chunarughat Madhabpur Upazila will be a role model in Bangladesh with youthful energy and technical skills. People from all over the country will come here to see the work skills and morale of the young men and women.
Deputy Commissioner Jilufa Sultana presided over the event while the Project Director of Her Power Project Manoa Israt delivered a welcome speech. After that trainee Hena Akhter of Habiganj Upazila, Preyasi Deb of Chunaru Ghat Police Station, Roksana Khatun from Babuganj Upazila shared their stories of training.
The social media influencers present in the event appreciated the power of the people of Habiganj-4 Parliamentary Constituency in transforming social media personalities into public representatives. They highlighted the hopes and aspirations of the people on Facebook Live and mentioned that the newly elected Member of Parliament of Chunarughat, Barrister Sumon, has introduced the area to the world and urged them to be by his side for the next 5 years to solve the problems.
Among them, motivational speaker and telecom professional Solaiman Sukhan complained about the problem of mobile internet in Chunarughat. He sought the intervention of the present minister to solve this problem. Also addressing the common people present, he said that voting is not everything, after voting is a big challenge for the elected representative. Popularity, passion is like sour water. The real problems should be presented to the people’s representatives in soft language. Criticism should be in polite language.
District Awami League President and Member of Parliament Advocate Md. Abu Zahir, Habiganj-3 Member of Parliament Mayez Uddin Sharif Ruel and Habiganj-4 Member of Parliament Barrister Syed Syedul Haque Sumon, Municipal Mayor Saiful Alam and Chairman of Upazila Parishad Alhaj Abdul Qadir Laskar also spoke on the occasion.
Director General of Information and Technology Department Mostafa Kamal, Police Superintendent of Habiganj Akhter Hossain and others also spoke at the event.
