The ‘National Emergency Service 999’ received more phone calls till 12 midnight on December 31 than the number of election-related complaints received in the last 14 days. At that time, 461 complaints were submitted to the election-related law and order coordination cell of the public security department of the Ministry of Home Affairs. On the other hand, ‘National Emergency Service 999’ responded to 971 calls across the country related to loud music and noise pollution on the eve of Thirty First. Out of this, the organization provided services against 237 calls in Dhaka metropolitan area alone.
Inspector of Police (Media and Public Relations Officer) Anwar Sattar gave this information on Monday (January 1) afternoon.
He said that 526 phone calls were received on 999 till 12 midnight on December 31. Out of which only 107 people were waiting for service from Dhaka metropolitan area. 445 noise pollution calls were received between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM on January 1 till the writing of this report. Among them, only 130 people were waiting for service from Dhaka metropolitan area.
In these incidents, the police team of the concerned police station went to the spot and stopped the loud music playing on the loudspeakers and settled the complaints related to noise pollution.
According to the Public Security Department, on December 18, the highest number of complaints in the election-related law and order cell on the ground floor of the Ministry of Home Affairs came from Dhaka district. This number is 64. At the same time, 33 complaints were received from Comilla, 27 from Naogaon, 20 from Mymensingh, 18 from Chittagong, 14 from Tangail. The least number of complaints (one each) came from Rajbari, Munshiganj, Moulvibazar and Khagrachhari districts.
