Bangladesh Awami League, the ruling party has announced the manifesto for the 12th national parliament election with special priority on 11 issues including increasing investment in integrated agricultural system, mechanization and processing for the purpose of profitable agriculture and building modern technology-based smart Bangladesh under the slogan ‘Development is visible, employment will increase now’. The manifesto highlights the achievements of the Awami League government for three consecutive terms and their action plan for the development of the country if they come to power in the next term. The regime from 2009 to 2023 has been called ‘Bangladesh, the wonder of the world on the path of development and prosperity’. It has expressed the commitment to adopt suitable strategies for the development of rural non-agricultural sector including commercial agriculture, biotechnology, genetic engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence and nano technology.
Prime Minister and party president Sheikh Hasina announced this manifesto at 10:30 am on Wednesday (December 27) at Pan Pacific Hotel Sonargaon Hotel in the capital.
About Freedom of media and free flow of information, she said, now there are 14 IP TVs, 185 online news portals, online versions of 182 newspapers in the country. Stating that measures will be taken to free journalists from harassment and intimidation, Sheikh Hasina said that according to the Cyber Security Act 2023, privacy and information of individuals will be preserved. Appropriate measures will be taken to prevent misuse.
She said that in the era of the fourth industrial revolution, the ability of technology is absolutely necessary to survive in global competition. Bangladesh will not be left behind. That’s why we are working with smart citizen, smart government, smart economy, and smart society. In 2041, we will make Bangladesh a Smart Sonar Bangla. In addition, efforts are being made to establish more DNA and forensic labs to build public relations law enforcement forces, and to build public welfare-oriented administrative systems based on information technology.
At this time, Sheikh Hasina presented a comparative picture of 2006 with the present in each sector. In addition, the general secretary of Awami League Obaidul Quader and convener of the manifesto drafting committee Dr. Abdur Razzak spoke. Senior leaders of the party, representatives of the diplomatic core and dignitaries of the society were present.
Special priority has been given to 11 issues in this year’s manifesto of Awami League. Those are:
1. Making every effort to keep the prices within the affordability of all.
2. Ensuring vocational education and youth employment.
3. Building smart Bangladesh based on modern technology.
4. Increased investment in integrated farming systems, mechanization and processing for profitable agriculture.
5. Expanding the industry by leveraging visible infrastructure and increasing investment.
6. To increase efficiency and capacity in the financial sector including banking.
7. Making healthcare affordable for low-income people.
8. Inclusion of all in the universal pension system.
9. Ensuring effectiveness and accountability of law enforcement.
10. To prevent communalism and all forms of terrorism and militancy.
11. To promote the protection and practice of democratic system at all levels.
