Not merely the government guidance, rather the telecommunication system is being disrupted continuously by keeping the network busy through DNS poisoning and DDoS attacks, said the ADC of Cyber Crime Investigation Department of Bangladesh Police Md. Nazmul Islam. For this reason, he called upon the network engineers to be alert about the DNS Poisoning and DdOS attacks. Also, 500 cyber cops are currently working to protect the country’s 120 million netizens, he said, adding that the new law on cyber security has made some crimes ‘non-bailable’, so the police are having trouble working. So the issue should be reconsidered.
He made this claim while presenting the keynote speech at the closing session of the first day of the BdNOG 17 on Tuesday.
At the beginning of the presentation, Nazmul Islam called for South Asian countries’ cops to be included in this network. He said to catch cybercriminals.
As cyber cops, we work against bad actors taking into account the lifestyle of the East.
This cyber warrior, who is known as Macy of cyber cops in Bangladesh who has recently received the SP medal, also said that, a Facebook account is created every 12 seconds in the country. The number of Facebook users in the country is 7 crore. This is surprisingly where most crimes happen. Therefore, as the only country in the world, only in Bangladesh the police work on the problems created through Facebook. Facebook, Google set up cache servers because they are doing business in our country. Where there is development there is deviation. So we have to work with everyone here.
In response to a question, Nazmul said that while collecting evidence to catch a crime or criminal, the police will copy it without opening the ‘router’ or ‘server’ etc. So no one should hesitate to complain.
Abdur Rahim Khan, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, was present as the chief guest on the occasion.
ISPAB President Md. Emdadul Haque, while speaking as the special guest said that, ISPAB will set up three more POPs outside Dhaka within the next two to three months. BdNOG General Secretary Barkatul Alam Biplob moderated the session.
ISPAB General Secretary Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan said, we are not getting qualified people. Those who are doing well are becoming trainers. Now we are competing with the world. There is no substitute for training.
BdNOG Trustee Md. Kawsar Uddin said, We started BdNOG in 2014. NOG happens twice every year. With AK training, he is now working in a global organization as well as training at a global level.
