After 11 districts of Mymensingh, Sylhet, Khulna and Rangpur, now it is clear from 10 spots of Rangpur district and 9 spots of Gaibandha district that the radiation spread from mobile towers in the country is far below the safe level. On Sunday, the BTRC website published the results of radiometric tests of mobile towers in these areas. It has been shown that it does not harm the human body and the environment.
According to the results, the safe level of EMF radiation is a maximum of 2.106 per square meter but the tests found it to be between 0.0042 and 0.07 or a maximum of 0.03 percent. Among them, the maximum waste level per square meter is 0.07682 in Jahaj Company Mor of Rangpur and adjacent areas.
Earlier, in November last year, the High Court formed a seven-member expert committee to inquire whether it is reasonable to set one percent of the international level of radiation of mobile towers at one percent of 10 percent considering the health and environmental risks. Director of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Md. Golam Razzak was made the member secretary of the expert committee. Then, the High Court bench of Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Raziq Al Jalil asked the committee convened by Kamruzzaman, Former member of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission to give its opinion within four months. Since then BTRC is conducting this test across the country.
