On Sunday (November 19), Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud handed over the ‘DRU Best Reporting Award-2023’ to 20 best reporters at Shilpakala Academy in the capital. Among them, Rahim Sheikh of the Dainik Janakantha received the Best Reporter Award in the ‘Information, Communication and Technology’ category. In ‘Agriculture & Environment’ category, Arefin Tanjeev of Channel I Online and Jahangir Alam, senior reporter of Jago News, became the best reporter in the ‘Politics, Administration, Justice, Parliament and Election Commission’ category.
Emdadul Haque Tuhin of Sarabangla.net received the Best Reporter Award in the ‘Apparel Sector’ category among the three awards given with courtesy of BGMEA. Also Daulat Akhter Mala of English daily ‘Financial Express’ in ‘Overall Economics’ category and Jasim Uddin Haroon of the same daily won the award in ‘Research in Economics’ category.
Maqsood Un Nabi of Channel 24 and Abu Zaheed M. Selim of Mashranga Television received the Best Reporter Award in the ‘Agriculture and Environment’ category in the television and radio section. And Channel 24’s Masudur Rahman won the award for best reporting in the ‘Women, Children and Human Rights’ category.
Similarly, English daily New Age’s Shaheen Akhtar received the best reporter award in the ‘Education’ category out of the regular 14 categories. Adnan Rahman of Dhaka Post received the Best Reporter Award in the ‘Crime and Law and Order’ category. Rahenur Islam of Dainik Kale Kantha (currently working in an online media Sakal-Sandhya) received the best reporter award in the ‘Sports’ category.
In “Financial Sector (Banking, Insurance and Capital Market)” category, Mohammad Yousuf (Yusuf Arefin) of Daily Kalbela, in “Foreign Relations (Diplomacy and Manpower)” category, Rajeev Ahmed of Daily Samakal, in “Women, Children and Human Rights” category Jharna Mani of the Daily Bhorer Kagoj, in the ‘Power and Energy’ category, Share Biz’s Ismail Ali and Daily Prothom Alo’s Arifur Rahman in ‘Good Governance and Corruption’ (Inquiry) received the Best Reporter Award.
Jury Board Chairman Shahjahan Sardar announced the awardees at the event. DRU president Mursalin Nomani presided over the program whie the general secretary of the organization Mainul Hasan conducted the event.
