The incident of fire in the capital’s Bangabazar also affected the neighboring police headquarters. In this situation, 999 emergency services were closed. After being closed for seven and a half hours, the national emergency service number 999 has resumed operations.
Police Headquarters AIG (Media) Manjur Rahman confirmed this information on Tuesday (April 4) around 7:30 pm.
He said, due to the fire in Bangabazar, the emergency service of 999 number was closed from 12 noon. It was again launched around 7:30 pm.
It may be noted that, the office of 999 is located next to the railway building on Abdul Gani road near Bangabazar. And the Bangbazar-adjacent police headquarters has telephone lines, electricity and other equipment for this service. After the fire, this service was stopped due to lack of ‘power backup’ in Bangabazar and its surrounding areas. As a result, the police headquarters was requested to contact the local police station or fire station in case of emergency during the temporary suspension of this service. After the fire was brought under control, the National Emergency Service 999 service resumed from 7.20 pm.
