The National emergency service 999 has been temporarily suspended due to the fire in Bangabazar of the capital.
AIG (Media) Manjur Rahman at Police Headquarters confirmed this information to the media on Tuesday (April 4).
He said, ‘In case of emergency, it is requested to contact the local police station or fire station.’
The Fire has engulfed Bangabazar since 6 am on Tuesday. Even at 12 noon, the fire was not under control. Firefighting is being hampered by strong winds and water scarcity. Most of the shops in Bangabazar were burnt to ashes in six hours. However, the fire service says that all efforts are being made to control the fire.
Meanwhile, RAB’s four Dhaka battalions and Narayanganj battalion are working to maintain law and order situation and traffic management in the wake of the fire incident. Commander Khandaker Al Moin, Director of RAB’s law and mass media wing, confirmed this information and said that 18 patrol teams and six teams in plain clothes from all Dhaka battalions of RAB and Narayanganj are working at the scene.
