Huawei, the leading ICT infrastructure service provider, will soon establish its sixth ICT Academy at the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) with the aim of creating opportunities for students to develop their talent and gain knowledge about information technology.
To this end, an MoU signing ceremony was organized on March 28 at CUET Campus. The Vice-Chancellor of CUET Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam was present as the chief guest. Zhang Cheng (Justin), director of its South Asia Enterprise Partner Development and Management Department on behalf of Huawei; Nazia Samantha Islam, Corporate Affairs Manager, South Asia Public Relations Department; And its registrar from CUET Prof. Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir; Dean of Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Dr. Mohammad Moshiul Haque and Director of Planning and Development Professor Dr. Kazi Delwar Hossain and other faculty members were present on the occasion.
In the first phase, CUET faculty members will be imparted necessary training through this ICT Academy to become certified instructors. Later, these faculty members will impart training to the students. The CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said, “We are delighted to collaborate with Huawei South Asia to establish an ICT Academy on our campus. In today’s context industry-academia collaboration is crucial to create the right skilled manpower to keep pace with the evolving world. I hope that this academy will play an important role in preparing our students for the future world.”

Huawei is aware of this change and that is why we want to prepare the younger generation so that they can thrive in the world of the future. That’s why it’s important to have the right ICT skills across the workforce and build a strong ICT ecosystem. Huawei is taking various initiatives to build this ICT ecosystem. In continuation of these efforts, we are going to establish our 6th academy in CUET.”
Huawei launched ICT Academy as a global industry-academia cooperation project since 2013. Currently, 1500 ICT academies are operating under the management of Huawei in more than 90 countries around the world, including the UK, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. A total of 927 college and university students are involved with this initiative. Thousands of students around the world are benefiting from this initiative. Huawei South Asia has so far established 5 ICT academies in different universities in Bangladesh.
