70 trainee officers of Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management (BIGM) and Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) visited the National Science and Technology Museum-NMST. Government and civil administration officials and professionals were also present during the visit on Sunday and Monday.
On this occasion, seminars, open discussions and science exhibitions were organized at the National Museum of Science and Technology. The speakers emphasized using technology to ensuring good governance.
In the discussion meeting, Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, Director General of National Museum of Science and Technology said, “At present, the opportunities and facilities of government officials have increased many times, in that light, government institutions should be built with good governance and fulfill their duties selflessly”. To meet the contemporary challenges with scientific innovation and technology, the DG urged to increase the quality of services. Many mills, factories and commercial establishments are stealing electricity by this way or that, which should be strictly stopped. “Many are becoming rich overnight by stealing water, gas and electricity. Govt. procurement rules should be followed in purchasing. Modern technology must be implemented with the use of CCTV”, he added.
Director of National Science and Technology Museum A. K. M. Lutfur Rahman Siddique delivered the welcome address on the occasion.
The course director of BIGM, Banik Gaur Sundar and Supervising Engineer of DPDC Md. Mohiul Alam also spoke in the seminar. At the end of the program, the trainees were given commemorative gifts by the science museum.
