There is a huge market in the software testing sector all over the world. Besides, this sector has immense potential in its own local market. For this, we need skilled manpower. In 2023, there is a huge demand for skilled people in software testing sector in Bangladesh.
The sector stakeholders expressed such optimism at the round table meeting on the first day of ‘BASIS SoftExpo’, Bangladesh’s biggest information technology exhibition, which started on Thursday (February 23).
The main theme of the meeting was ‘Software QA and Testing: Prospects in Outsourcing and Offshoring’. Chip Operating Officer of Bangladesh Skill Development Institute K.M. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Group CEO of Daffodil Family presented the keynote of the program moderated by Hasan Ripon.
Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Khandkar Azizul Islam was present as the chief guest in the event. Assistant Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Department Mohammad Nabid Saifullah was present as the special guest.
The chief guest, Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park, Khandkar Azizul Islam, said that there has been a shortage in the software sector during the Covid-19 pandemic. At that time our boys and girls made Sueokkha apps with their own skills. It has been possible to easily bring 10 to 12 crore people under the vaccine. About 150 million taka has been saved by developing the software all by ourselves. Now we have to look at the quality of the software. If we want to export software, there is no substitute for quality.
Stating that the government, industry and academia must work together for the development of the software industry, Mohammad Nabid Saifullah said, “We are moving towards Smart Bangladesh.” In this case, the quality and testing of the software should be looked at. A course on this should be introduced in the universities.
Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Group CEO of Daffodil Family, said Bangladesh’s identity to the world is for outsourcing. The new identity will be for software testing. There is a $70 billion market in this sector. Bangladesh can also be a part of this billion dollar market.
Ahmedul Islam Babu, BASIS Director and Chairman of BASIS Japan Desk, Raisul Kabir, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of BrainStation 23 Limited and Mehdi Masood, Chief Operating Officer of BJIT Limited were also present at the event. The four-day BASIS SoftExpo 2023 will continue till next Sunday. This event is open for all types of visitors. A dedicated shuttle bus service is available for visitors to easily travel to BASIS SoftExpo. There are also gaming zones, business lounges, food courts and concerts.
