One thousand 831 graduates are participating in the fourth convocation of the Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) at the undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil and PhD levels on February 18. Two thousand 61 people will come as guests with the students.
The final approval of the activities related to the convocation was given in the meeting of the 87th (Special) Board of Regents at the conference room of the administrative building of JUST. Earlier, the academic council, the highest policy-making forum for university education, was presented to the Board of Regents for final approval of the convocation proceedings.
In the fourth convocation of JUST, Dr. Deepu Moni, the Education Minister will preside on behalf of the president and the Chancellor of the university Md. Abdul Hamid. Secretary of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, former professor of Life Chemistry and Micro Biological Science Department of Dhaka University and a ‘Swadhinota Padak’ winning scientist (Freedom Medalist) Professor Dr. Hasina Khan will be present as the convocation speaker. The Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain will deliver his welcome speech. Apart from this, members of parliament, vice-chancellors of various universities, vice-chancellors, It is expected that invited guests including the military and civil administration will be present. 57 people will receive gold medals and awards in various categories at this convocation. Among them, the student with the highest CGPA with distinction in each faculty will receive the Chancellor’s Gold Medal. In this class, 22 graduates are getting Chancellor’s Gold Medal in this year’s convocation. The student with the highest CGPA in each department under each faculty will receive the Vice Chancellor’s Award. 26 graduates are receiving awards in this class. However, the student of the department who has received the Chancellor’s Gold Medal is not considered for the Vice Chancellor’s Award of that department. The student with the highest CGPA in each category will receive the Dean’s Award. In this class, 9 graduates are getting Dean’s Award. 26 graduates are getting awards in this class. Graduates can collect their convocation gowns and gifts from the respective departments on February 16 and 17. The original certificate can be collected by submitting the ‘No Claim Certificate’ and ‘Receipt’ of gown deposit from the office of the Controller of Examinations on the second floor of the Administrative Building of JUST. Weekend holidays on Thursday and Friday have been canceled to facilitate the convocation ceremony. On those two days, the official activities of all departments and offices will be conducted as usual. Vehicles of teachers, officials and employees will ply according to the specified route. For the convenience of the graduates, the bus will travel according to the schedule to Palbari Mor Campus in Jessore city. The transport schedule notification in this regard is supposed to be given on the university website.
