If Smart Bangladesh is developed, we have to work with intelligence transport and system. For this we need to strengthen highway based networks. We need to have an ITS master plan. There we have to take the 2 thousand 195 km road to ITS.
This demand was raised by Additional Chief Engineer Dr. Md. Abdullah Al Mamun.
Presenting the main article in the national seminar titled ‘4th Industrial Revolution Technology and Preparation of Roads and Highways Department’ with the aim of building a ‘Smart Bangladesh’ to face the challenges of the 21st century, he said, if we want to build a developed and prosperous country, the role of our Roads and Highways Department is very important. Our Prime Minister expressed his firm commitment to build a smart Bangladesh. We have to work towards that goal.
In the keynote of this seminar of the three-day conference, the issue of building smart highways of Smart Bangladesh by ensuring safe and comfortable highways has been given importance.
ABM Amin Ullah Noori, Secretary of Road Transport and Highways Department participated in the discussion meeting as the chief guest and panel discussant. He said, “If we want to build a developed and prosperous country, we have to look at roads and highways. Today, when you leave your house, you have a smartphone in your hand. Following the path of Bangabandhu, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken the country a long way. That contribution must be accepted. His work should be recognized.”
Director General of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Brigadier General Nasim Parvez participated in the panel discussion and said that accidents should not happen on the road, people should be given all kinds of facilities for movement on the road. Our main infrastructure is the highway. But right now we need data management system. This requires a concerted effort. How successful is the digital Bangladesh that the government has talked about, I would say it is completely successful.
The seminar was presided over by Syed Moinul Hasan, Additional Chief Engineer of R&H. The panel discussant was chief engineer of R&H Md. Ishaq, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Jabbar Khan. Amit Kumar Chakraborty, General Secretary of SR&D Engineers Association delivered the welcome address.
