Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastgir Gazi urged engineers to be aware of the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution. At the same time, it is expected that the engineers of the country will implement all the big projects in the future of Bangladesh. Soon the country will come out of dependence on foreign engineers.
The Minister made this statement while speaking as the chief guest at the seminar entitled Bangabandhu’s vision on Industrialization in Bangladesh: Opportunities & challenges for 4IR and beyond, organized by the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in the capital on Wednesday (January 04) afternoon.
Golam Dastgir Ghazi said, we are currently at a juncture, which can easily be called the beginning of the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’ or ‘4IR’ or ‘Industry 4.0’. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT) technologies are mainly defined as the drivers of the fourth industrial revolution. In fact, 4IR is a state-of-the-art mechanism for linking digital systems between physical and biological systems, based on technologies developed during the Third Industrial Revolution. As a result, the new generation must be developed as skilled human resources to face the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution organized globally. Therefore, the present government is setting up and running various levels of technical training institutes and various fashion design institutes based on modern technology at the government level to create skilled human resources.
Chairman of IEB Mechanical Engineering Department, Engineer Mohammad Nasir Uddin presided over the meeting while the former Chairman of RAJUK and IEB President Md. Nurul Huda, IEB Ex-President and Secretary of Science and Technology Affairs of Bangladesh Awami League Engineer Md. Abdus Sabur, Vice President Engineer Nuruzzaman, Engineer Khandaker Manjur Morshed; Engineer SM Manjurul Haque Manju and others were present.
Engineer Soumitra Kumar Mutsuddi and Dr.Mohammed Sarwar Morshed presented keynotes on the occasion.
