Twitter’s ‘anti-suicide’ tools were shut down a few days ago, Reuters reported on Friday. Soon after, user and consumer protection groups became vocal. Following that, the service has been re-launched. News Reuters.
This feature used to be at the top of the search results of various charities related to mental health, HIV, vaccines, child abuse, Covid-19, gender-based violence, natural disasters and freedom of expression in different countries which is known as “#ThereIsHelp”.
Last Friday, the Reuters report was published about the two people involved in the matter. Then they said that the feature was removed a few days ago. They also claimed that Elon Musk himself ordered its removal.
Ella Ryun, Twitter’s head of security, confirmed the removal of the feature to Reuters shortly after the report was published. Besides, he termed the removal as ‘temporary’.
However, Twitter chief Elon Musk tweeted that the news of the removal of the feature was completely false. He also said that it is on. He tweeted so, 15 hours after the report was published.
In another tweet, Elon Musk said that Twitter does not prevent suicide.
