Twitter has taken the initiative to delete about 1.5 billion accounts that have been inactive for a long time. Sir Elton John, the main performer of next year’s Glastonbury Festival, has announced that he will leave the platform before the initiative is implemented. The British singer cited the platform’s misinformation policy change without explanation as the reason for the decision.
But despite Elton’s announcement, Musk expressed optimism about his return to the platform. In his latest tweet, Musk addressed the singer known for ‘Rocket Man’, ‘Candle in the Wind’ and ‘Sacrifice’ and wrote, “All my life I have tried to use music to bring people together. So, the way misinformation is being used to divide our world saddens me.”
Meanwhile, an initiative has been taken to delete accounts which have not logged into Twitter for more than a year or have not tweeted. “Chief Tweet” said that this activity will start soon.
Elon Musk has warned everyone that deleting accounts can cause other users on Twitter to lose their follower count. In a tweet (message on Twitter) he said, Twitter is currently removing a lot of spam or scam accounts. An initiative has been taken to delete about 1.5 billion accounts that have been inactive for a long time. Hence, the number of followers of users may decrease.
