The academic and administrative activities of Gopalganj Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology BSMUST have been stopped as a result of the indefinite strike called by the teachers on two-point demand. Due to this, the students fear session jam.
When asked about the concerns of the teachers, the president of the teachers’ association Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman said, we have placed our demands in writing and VC sir is working on it.
BSMUST Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AQM Mahbub highlighted his helplessness in this matter. He said, “Teachers do not want to follow any rules. What do I do now? Out of a total of 350 teachers in the university, 100 are out. Now I need a teachers but I can’t do anything.”
“Where the DC, MP and even the Prime Minister want the hi-tech park to be established, a group of teachers is obstructing this work. Still, I will sit with them again and raise the matter again in the Board of Regents”- added the VC.
Students of the fourth and last batch of the university fear that if academic and administrative activities are stopped for a long time, it will be difficult to recover the loss and even their careers may be at risk. They are saying, we were supposed to have midterm from today but due to this situation it is not happening. Although we were supposed to be done by December, that may not be possible anymore. We are already in session jam due to the pandemic. Our days are spent in utter despair. Due to frequent closure of academic activities, we are not being able to focus properly on studies. It should be resolved soon. Otherwise our future will be threatened.
