Ajit Mohan, head of Meta in India, stepped down from his post. The social media confirmed this news.
According to Meta, Ajit Mohan himself resigned from Meta due to opportunities in other organizations. According to the company, Ajit Mohan is going to join Facebook’s rival ‘Snap’. Meta’s Global Business Group Vice President Nicola Mendelsohn confirmed that Ajit Mohan is leaving the company.
Notably, he joined the post of Managing Director of Facebook India in January 2019. During his tenure, the number of Instagram and WhatsApp users in India grew by 20 crores.
Nicola Mendelsohn, one of the company’s top executives, released a statement on the departure of Ajit Mohan, saying, ‘He (Ajit Mohan) has managed our company’s operations in India for the last four years and has played an important role in expanding the company’s reach. Meta has served millions of Indian businesses, partners and people. We are deeply committed to India and have a strong team to drive all our work and partnerships. We are grateful for Ajit’s leadership and contribution and wish him good lick for the future.’
Meanwhile, Ajith was associated with Hotstar for four years before taking over the post of managing director of Meta. He convinced Star India to launch Hotstar. Ajit joins Snap as head of Asia-Pacific region.
