Mohiuddin Ahmed, President of Bangladesh Mobile Phone Consumers Association – BMPCA and Chief Coordinator of Sherpur District Development Struggle Council, demanded that the backward communities of Sherpur should not be restricted to become technicians rather technologists and engineers. On this demand, the organization has scheduled a public meeting in Shahbagh on November 20 and a memorandum to be submitted to the Prime Minister.
Mohiuddin Ahmed demanded so while speaking as the chief guest at the discussion meeting held on the eight-point demand of Sherpur Unnayan Sangram Parishad (Sherpur District Development Struggle Council) on the initiative of Dhaka-based Sherpur District Social Welfare Foundation. He said, Sherpur District is the most neglected district when all the districts are floating in the tide of development of the country. Our demands are clear that there is nothing in this district. We wanted an IT park, or an industrial zone; Where IT based and agro technology industries will develop. I also wanted a communication and Science and Technology University. But two days ago we found that Hon’ble Minister of State for ICT went to Sherpur and announced the establishment of an IT Training Center. Sad to say, not restricting backward communities to becoming technology artisans, give them the opportunity to become technology engineers.
