Aminul Islam, a rickshaw puller, who has been driving a three wheeler rickshaw in Gulshan area for long eight years, found a mobile phone (iPhone 13 Pro Max) locked in the gaps between the passenger seats in his rickshaw.
On August 5, After dropping the passenger at Gulshan-2 area, he found the mobile phone between the gaps of passenger seating area. It looks like the phone was quite expensive. The phone was switched off. It could not be turned on as it went out of charge. As a result, he could not understand, who the owner of the mobile phone was. To find out the owner, the phone needed to be turned on. Eventually, he went to a shop in North Badda and tried to buy a charger. But the shopkeeper asked the price of the charger very high. What was not within his reach. So, he returned without buying the charger. Later he removed the SIM from the mobile phone. Activated the SIM in his own mobile phone. After activating the SIM, a woman’s call came. She claimed ownership of the mobile phone. He then asked the woman to take the mobile phone. Later on August 9, he returned the phone to the owner through the police.
Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam has rewarded taka 50 thousand cash to the rickshaw puller Aminul Islam for his honesty and returning the iPhone to the lady, an American citizen of Bangladeshi origin. The Mayor presented the award from the private fund in a function at the Nagar Vaban of North City Corporation in Gulshan-2 on Sunday.
Earlier last Friday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Gulshan Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Asaduzzaman presented an honor crest to the rickshaw puller Aminul Islam as an award for his integrity. He also awarded him with some cash money.
