Living freedom fighters are starting to get digital or smart ID cards. And those freedom fighters who died, their families are getting digital certificates. Through this smart ID card, valiant freedom fighters will get the facility of free movement in government vehicles. They will also get free treatment in government hospitals. Medical services will include – all medical services, chiropractic treatment, purchase and supply of medicines, bed rent, food and beverage supply and nursing services.
In the first phase, a total of 24 thousand 761 freedom fighters from 17 districts are getting smart ID cards and 46 thousand 803 are getting digital certificates. It will take another one and a half months to complete the printing of digital certificates and smart ID cards of the remaining 47 districts, said Minister for Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haque.
Inaugurating this program at the Ministry of Liberation War on Thursday, the minister said that the digital certificates and smart ID cards of the valiant freedom fighters will be distributed through the office of the concerned Upazila Nirbahi Officer, the concerned District Commissioner in the metropolitan area. First, the freedom fighters of 17 districts – Kishoreganj, Gopalganj, Gazipur, Madaripur, Narail, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Jessore, Jhenaidah, Magura, Dhaka, Shariatpur, Meherpur, Narayanganj – will get this card. Gradually, these digital certificates and smart ID cards will be given in other districts of the country.
The number of smart ID card and digital certificate holders (district wise):
1 thousand 755 smart ID card and 3 thousand 522 digital certificate in Kishoreganj, 2 thousand 745 smart ID card and 5 thousand 250 digital certificate in Gopalganj, 1 thousand 734 smart ID card and 3 thousand 55 digital certificate in Gazipur, 1 thousand 460 smart ID cards and 2 thousand 566 digital certificates in Madaripur, 1 thousand 240 smart ID cards and 2 thousand 324 digital certificates in Narail, 644 smart ID cards and 1 thousand 471 digital certificates in Moulvibazar, 928 smart ID cards and 2 thousand 47 digital certificates in Habiganj. Certificates, 1 thousand 711 smart ID cards and 3 thousand 967 digital certificates will be distributed in Sunamganj.
2 thousand 324 smart ID cards and 4 thousand 362 digital certificates in Bagerhat, 1 thousand 231 smart ID cards and 2 thousand 131 digital certificates in Satkhira, 1 thousand 484 smart ID cards in Jessore, 2 thousand 706 digital certificates, 1 thousand 119 smart ID cards in Jhenaidah and 2 One thousand 74 digital certificates, 917 smart ID cards and 1 thousand 616 digital certificates in Magura, 2 thousand 516 smart ID cards and 4 thousand 255 digital certificates in Dhaka, 1 thousand 309 smart ID cards and 2 thousand 310 digital certificates in Shariatpur, 452 smart ID cards in Meherpur. And 864 digital certificates and 1 thousand 192 smart ID cards and 2 thousand 283 digital certificates will be distributed in Narayanganj.
District wise digital certificate and smart ID card should be distributed after verifying the integrated list published on the Ministry of Liberation War website.
In the virtual opening ceremony with the District Commissioners, the Secretary of the Ministry, Khaza Mia, said, ‘The digital certificate and smart ID card of brave freedom fighters will be distributed through the concerned Upazila Nirbahi Officer, the office of the concerned District Commissioner in the metropolitan area. District-wise digital certificate and smart ID card should be distributed after verifying the integrated list published on the website of Ministry of Liberation Affairs.
If the names are not included in the integrated list published on the website of the Ministry of Liberation War, the distribution of digital certificates and smart ID cards sent in the name of freedom fighters should be suspended. Freedom fighters whose names are not included in the consolidated list will be given digital certificates and smart ID cards later, subject to their names being included in the consolidated list.
The secretary said, ‘Those whose names have not been printed in the digital certificate and smart ID card despite being in the integrated list, after the upazila executive officers send the list of names along with the MIS number to the secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War, the digital certificate and smart ID card will be sent to them later.
He also said that if the complaint brought against a freedom fighter is pending before the National Freedom Fighters Council, the distribution of his card will be stopped.
